On October 1st I went to Trader Joe’s looking for pumpkin butter. They were out. Upon asking, they told me they now stock it the day after Labor Day and it never makes it to October… “come and gone” were the words they used. September is way too early for me to get into pumpkin so I had to work on my own recipe. The good news? I figured out how to do it in the slow cooker and making it at home allows you to control how sweet it is. Give this slow cooker pumpkin butter recipe a try and add as much or little sweetener as you’d like!
Nothing is as simple, yet also fancy as steamed shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce. A perfect dish for a date night at home this Valentine’s Day.
A gloriously pink applesauce with a bit of cranberry tanginess. This makes for a delicious Thanksgiving side that feels just a little fancier than regular applesauce. Substitute it for or serve it in addition to a more traditional cranberry sauce. This family recipe will become a tradition in your house too!
A zingy, homemade cranberry sauce with a hint of lemon and orange that takes the flavor up several notches. Easily level up this Thanksgiving with a homemade version and drop the canned kind and its high fructose corn syrup. Eat healthy, live well.
Equal amounts of ginger and garlic blended together with oil create a base for numerous recipes. Easy to make and refrigerates well, using Ginger Garlic Paste will shorten the cooking time for all of your favorite Asian-inspired recipes that call for both ingredients. Need ideas? I’ve included my favorites in the post!
My homemade version of a family classic is low salt and uses garlic and dry sherry to add additional rich and creamy flavor. Make this a day before serving for the color of the onions to really blend into the dip. It is delicious with veggies, pretzels, and chips and the leftovers can be used as a sauce for roasting fish or chicken.
An easy, homemade applesauce that your friends and family will love and beg you to make again. This version uses tart apples and only a little bit of sugar. Cinnamon and nutmeg are added but can be adjusted for taste or skipped entirely.
