The Only Sangria Recipe You'll Ever Need
A Simple Strategy to Make Amazing Sangria Every Time
Sangria.
Want to know a secret?
Most sangria recipes follow a simple formula: wine + liquor + fruit + something fizzy to top it off. And, typically they pull from fresh fruit that is in season and classic fruit combinations (cherry + lime, strawberry + raspberry, apple + grape, cranberry + apple).
With that in mind, you can use this basic recipe to mix and match your own perfect Sangria:
Choose 1 bottle of Wine - use a dry, ideally unoaked, variety
Red
White
Rosé
Add 1/3 - 1/2 Cups of Flavored Liquor - use a flavor combination that matches your fresh fruit:
Blackberry Brandy
Gran Marnier (or other Orange flavored liqueur)
Chambord (or other Raspberry flavored liqueur)
Peach Schnapps
St-Germain (Elderflower liqueur)
Apple Pie Moonshine
Cherry Schnapps or Brandy
Mango Liqueur
Other!
Optionally, add 1/3-1/2 cup of juice that will pair with the fruit and liquor you added such as:
Pomegranate Juice
Peach Juice
Mango Juice
Apple Cider
Grape Juice
Add 2 Cups of Fresh Fruit. Wash the fruit first, then simply add berries, and slice or chop larger fruits (removing pits and stems):
Blackberries
Raspberries
Blueberries
Strawberries
Cherries
Oranges
Lemons
Limes
Apples
Pears
Peaches
Mango
Grapes
Apricots
Nectarines
Cranberries
Pomegranate Seeds
Pineapple
Melon
Allow the wine, liquor, and fruit to blend together in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (up to 24). Then, when ready to serve, add something festive and fizzy to finish it off directly to the pitcher or top off individual cups as you serve. Here are some ideas:
Club Soda
Sparkling Juice (apple, apple cider, grape)
Lemon-lime soda
Ginger Beer
Elderflower lemonade
Sparkling lemonade
Seltzer
Prosecco
