Kitchen Acumen Tips:
For the best flavor, use an artisanal creme soda. You know, the kind that comes in glass bottles. The Boylan Bottling Creme Soda made with Cane Sugar is by far the closest to tasting like Harry Potter World Butter Beer in our hunt for the best homemade knock off version of this sugary treat. Others are good; Jones Creme Soda, for example. But don’t use a 2L bottle of creme soda in a plastic bottle, it’s not going to measure up. If you can find Boylan (often available at WalMart or grocery stores) it is so worth it.
The whipped topping will keep for several days in the refrigerator. Cover and store.
The adult version! Butterscotch schnapps add a little kick to the butter beer. We’ve tried other add-ins (bourbon, whiskey, vodka) but they always change the flavor in a way that’s not quite right … like butter beer.
