Pumpkin Spice White Russian
A Spicy Fall Twist on a Classic Cocktail
Just the Recipe | 1 Cocktail
Ingredients
2 oz Vodka (such as Tito’s)
1 oz Kahlua (or other Coffee liqueur)
1/2 oz Maple Syrup
1 1/2 oz Whole Milk, 1/2 and 1/2, or Cream
1/4-1/2 tsp Pie Spice
Cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)
Steps
In a small bowl, whisk the pie spice into the cream slowly so it doesn’t clump. Taste and add a little more if you want it to be spicier.
To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the vodka, coffee liqueur, and maple syrup.
Shake for 10 seconds.
Add to a cocktail glass with ice.
Top up with the spiced cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Cheers!
Kitchen Acumen Tips:
Obviously there is no pumpkin in this cocktail. That said, feel free to experiment. You can easily add a tablespoon of pumpkin puree, blended with pie spice, to the cocktail. I’d recommend fresh pumpkin puree as it’s creamier and smoother than the stuff in a can. It may not strain as easily though the cocktail shaker lid so try using a professional cocktail strainer. This pumpkin white Russian is your cocktail, have fun with it!
Many Pumpkin Spice White Russian recipes use a Pumpkin Spice Creamer. You can substitute for the pumpkin pie spice blend and cream for a flavored coffee creamer. It won’t taste quite as clean and I highly recommend natural creamers. Take a quick peek at what’s in your coffee creamer and watch out for artificial sweeteners, flavor additives, and added oils and preservatives. We stopped using flavored creamers when we shifted to a more natural, real food diet to eliminate some challenging allergies and health issues.
It is a light-bulb moment when you realize that you have all the ingredients to make pie spice already in your spice drawer. Instead of letting that ground allspice’s flavor fade while buying a new jar of pie spice each fall, use it! Spices don’t stay fresh forever.
You’ll love using large ice cubes in cocktails as they melt slower and water down the drink less. There are many silicone ice cube trays available. We have a tray that makes large cubes and one that makes large spheres. I find the cubes easier to work with but the spheres are stunning!
